About the Artist
GeeVee Meyer is an artist currently based in New Bern, North Carolina. She grew up in the Philippines and moved to the United States in her early 20s. She is primarily self-taught, but has also attended workshops led by internationally renowned artists in France, Belgium, Italy, Japan, and throughout the United States.
GeeVee's love for art started as a teenager while growing up in Cebu, Philippines. She and similarly inspired friends taught themselves the basics of classical figurative drawing, abstract painting, and anything else that generated interest.
She has moved with her family throughout the US and abroad. She currently lives in North Carolina, where she is a member of several fine arts and community organizations, including: the Bank of the Arts, Twin Rivers Art Association, Coastal Carolina Plein Air Painters, Women Painters of the Southeast, and Coastal Carolina Classrooms.
Her work is influenced by master artists of the old world – Sargent, Sorolla, Degas, Hensche, Michelangelo, Klimt, and Rubens, among others. Her choice mediums are oils and mixed-media. Charcoal and pastels are also staples in her studies.
